Normally, football players who are 6-foot-2 and weigh 350 pounds are most likely to be linemen. I mean, how could you not have a player of that size on the team? Even the most experienced opposing linemen would have their hands full blocking the big guy. However, this is a special case.
David Fangupo, a senior at Kailua-Kona Kealakehe High in Hawaii, was a running back for the school's football team. He rushed for 538 yards and ten touchdowns as a senior, leading Kealakehe to a 10-2 record and the Big Island Interscholastic Federation championship. As a matter of fact, Fangupo is a Division I football recruit; he's already agreed to sign a letter of intent to play at the University of Hawaii next year once he's academically cleared to do so. What's more is that he's expected to play running back next year with the Rainbow Warriors. Scouts say that Fangupo is very agile once he gets out of the backfield, which is rare for someone his size. As a matter of fact, check out some of his highlights: http://youtu.be/qxrTIU7VbyM
Which brings up the question: how would Fangupo fare in the NFL, let alone Division I football? For one, it'd be hard for anybody to take down the gossamer running back. Not even the average lineman weighs as much as Fangupo. Throw in the fact that he's agile and it'd be impossible to take him down. However, some coaches will think that Fangupo's physical attributes could best be used on the line and according to David, he's perfectly fine with that. Anyways, watching him run the ball could remind you of William "The Refrigerator" Perry during Super Bowl XX.
